Plus: Morning fuel to start your day

What’s up, Hustlers!

If you're looking to reach a new goal, remember: there are no shortcuts.

You're not going to get better at what you don't practice, so instead of looking for comfort, let's look for new mountaintops.

You deserve to know what happens at the top of the mountain. Keep going.

 .WHAT I’M PRACTICING.

Grounding myself in the present. When it feels like the world's spinning faster than I can keep up, I turn to journaling to keep me anchored in the now. Grounding yourself in the present moment is one of the most powerful ways to combat anxiety. Why?

  • Interrupts the anxiety loop 🔄 Anxiety often thrives on spiraling thoughts about the past or future. By focusing on the present, you can disrupt the loop, redirecting attention away from anxiety and towards your immediate surroundings.

  • Calms the nervous system 💆‍♀️ Engaging your senses in the present moment activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which counteracts the stress response and promotes relaxation.

  • Promotes resilience 💪 Over time, consistently grounding yourself develops inner strength and trains your mind to bounce back from adversity.

Want to give it a try? Here's one of my favorite journaling prompts to ground myself:

Identify:

5 things you can see

4 things you can touch

3 things you can hear

2 things you can smell

1 thing you can taste

By sharpening your senses in the present moment, you're not just combating anxiety in the short term—you're cultivating a powerful tool for long-term well-being.

 .WHAT’S STARTING MY DAY .

Morning fuel 🥞 Starting your day with the right fuel is crucial to keep you going strong. Lately, my family has been obsessed with protein pancakes topped with fresh fruit 🍓 Here's a simple recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup vegan protein powder (if flavored, make sure you want this to be the pancake flavor)

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup berries, banana, or fruit of choice

  • Maple syrup, monk fruit syrup or agave - optional to add 2 tbsp to batter

Instructions:

  • Mix all ingredients and let sit for 5 mins. Heat pan.

  • Batter should be mixed and lumpy but pourable. Add a bit more water as needed.

  • Cook in pan until the edges crisp and dry. 2-3 minutes on each side.

  • Add toppings! Here are some of the faves in our kitchen:

    • Fresh berries like raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries.

    • Coconut yogurt

    • Peanut butter or almond butter

    • Vegan chocolate chips

    • Sliced almonds

    • Chopped peanuts

    • Coconut chips

    • Carob chips

🍓🫐 🍌

Pique Nandaka ☕️ With my pancakes I’m drinking Nandaka. If you're not a coffee fan like me, give this alternative a try. It's a blend of fruiting body mushrooms with cacao that fights bloating and reduces sugar cravings. Plus, its slow-release caffeine from probiotic, naturally-fermented teas gives sustained energy without the jitters or crashes.

Question: What are some of your favorite plant-based protein sources?

— Nikki

Answer: One of the questions I get all the time is how I incorporate protein into my plant-based diet. There are tons of ways—I love beans, lentils, tempeh, seitan, and tofu.

If you want a quick and protein-focused vegan meal, check out these Black Bean Tofu Tacos I made with Katie Couric - they are 🔥
