👑 Self-pity is poison

Plus: More summer salads!

What’s up, Hustlers!

Self-pity is human, but it’s poison.

Nobody is taking up residence in between my ears unless they’re paying rent.

If your mind is cluttered with negative thoughts, let that shit go!

Let's flip the script. Turn pain into power.

 .WHAT I’M LOVING.

Summer Salads 🥗 I love salads in the summer—they’re light, fresh, and perfect for those hot summer days. Here’s a recent recipe I’m making on repeat. It's protein-packed, simple to make and full of flavor. ⬇️

Ingredients

  • Tofu

  • Adobo or seasoning of choice

  • Cornstarch

  • Kraut

  • Dried golden berries

  • Hemp hearts

  • Cashews

  • Protein wrap or pita

Directions:

  • Coat your tofu in adobo or favorite seasoning. Sprinkle on some cornstarch for that perfect crispy finish.

  • Air fry the tofu at 400°F for 10 minutes.

  • Once it’s crispy and golden, mix in some kraut, dried golden berries, hemp hearts, and cashews.

  • Serve with a protein wrap or pita.

Enjoy this delicious and nutritious salad, and share your favorite summer recipes on instagram tagging @swaggersociety and #summerofswagger!

 .WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT.

Everyday Greatness ⭐️ This week on Good Morning America I’m teaming up with Robin Roberts for our new series - ‘Everyday Greatness’. We’ve called upon some of the most influential leaders across industries to share their tools and tips to help us achieve greatness in our own lives.

Yesterday, we chatted with Emma Grede, CEO of Good American, on how she uses her mindset to achieve greatness. Here are my key takeaways:

  • Name it and claim it. I’m a true believer in manifesting what you want out of life. Journaling, dreamscaping and creating vision boards can be fun parts of that process.

  • Failure is feedback. Around the time I was writing my first book I was also planning to launch an athleisure clothing line. I had the designs, fabrics, and my own money on the line. I pulled the plug on the launch because I was spreading myself too thin while writing "Shut Up and Run" and it wasn't being executed how I wanted it. However, I kept fueling the creative designs in journals and clipping things that I loved. Fast forward 10 years later, I am designing a collection with Peloton for 2025. Trust the struggle long enough to see what it reveals about yourself.

  • Use fear as fuel. Every time I set out to run a faster time, add more weight to the barbell, or say yes to a project that feels scary, I explore the edges of my comfort zone. Embracing fear can become a practice just like anything else. 1) acknowledge it, 2) reframe it by zooming out, 3) take one small step (put on running shoes, send one email, schedule one meeting, sign up for one class). Taking the first step empowers us to take another.

  • Talk to yourself like you would a friend. The conversation between your ears is a catalyst for action. You have a choice in what you say to yourself. Let’s make it supportive, forgiving and kind.

Tune into Good Morning America today and tomorrow for more ‘Everyday Greatness’ tips from Alexis Ohanian and Tory Burch!

 .WHAT I’M MAKING SPACE FOR.

Play 😄 Consider exploring your playful pursuits. Fun and play are tools in my superhero toolkit. We need levity in addition to hustle.

I went through a period of time where I colored a lot as an adult! Even 15 minutes of coloring allowed me to revisit my work (law briefs at the time) with fresh eyes.

This week I challenge you to take 10 minutes to unplug from the hustle—draw, sing, dance, build. You might find you are reenergized in a whole new way.

ESPYs! 🏆️ Last week I attended the 2024 ESPYs award show hosted by Serena Williams. It was inspiring to see all the incredible athletes on the stage. Their energy, drive and passion were next level!

I was reminded that the most successful people don’t fear failure, they fear mediocrity. 💪

Bragg Mocktails 🍎 If you are looking for some summer mocktail inspiration, check out my latest recipes using Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar. These recipes are refreshing, energizing and full of the good stuff!

#2: Bragg’s Minty Mocktail (with a twist!)

  • 8oz sparkling water

  • 1-2 tbs ACV

Thanks for reading, Hustlers. Go out there, pivot with power, and stay curious about what’s next.
